Day long electricity outage ahead in Laois town
One area of a Laois town will be without electricity for most of the day next week.
ESB Networks has notified some 60 customers in Mountmellick of a planned cut to supply.
It will take place on Wednesday, July 5 from 9am to 4pm, affecting the region around St Vincent's Community Nursing Unit.
A spokesperson confirmed the reason to the Leinster Express / Laois Live.
"The planned outage taking place on Wednesday, 5th July is required to facilitate a line diversion for an extension for the local hospital in Mountmellick. This will affect approximately 60 customers and ESB Networks apologises for any inconvenience caused."
ESB Networks advise that you should regard your connection as being live all this time as electricity supply could be restored at any time, sometimes for brief periods, while work is carried out. Switch off all electrical equipment.
The hospital is undergoing a major expansion and renovation, with Phase I of three phases to produce a new 50 bed two storey wing by mid 2025.
