Kriszti from Portlaoise is undergoing treatment
Portlaoise-based breast cancer patient Kriszti Nemeth is supporting the Irish Cancer Society's Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign and encouraging the public to host a Big Pink Breakfast to help fund vital breast cancer support services and life-changing breast cancer research projects.
Kriszti was diagnosed with breast cancer in January 2023 after she noticed some changes in her breast in December last year. She recently underwent chemotherapy and a mastectomy and will begin a clinical trial of a new chemotherapy in the coming months.
“During my treatment, I found great support in the Irish Cancer Society Daffodil Centre in St. James’ Hospital. I met a lovely nurse and had a really good chat and a little cry," she says.
" By hosting a Big Pink Breakfast you’re funding incredible support services like Daffodil Centre Nurses, free counselling, free transport to therapy and vital cancer research. Please get involved this Breast Cancer awareness month, and support breast cancer patients like me,” said Krizti.
Caroline O’Sullivan is a Cancer Nurse at the Irish Cancer Society.
“Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in Ireland. Over 3,400 women and approximately 30 men are diagnosed with it each year. It is vital therefore that everyone be ‘breast aware’. Thankfully most breast cancers are diagnosed at an earlier stage. The earlier you are diagnosed, the more treatment options are available to you, including surgery, radiotherapy, and drug therapies," she aid.
