Volunteers take part in a Laois Volunteer Centre coordinated project at the Sue Ryder Centre in Ballyroan
Laois Volunteer Centre has recently been shortlisted for a Good Governance Award 2023.
The awards are run annually by the national training and specialist support group for nonprofits, Carmichael, and this is the second year that Laois Volunteer Centre have been shortlisted in Category 2 section.
This year, 134 nonprofit organisations entered their annual reports into the Good Governance Awards. The awards are divided into 7 categories based on the annual income of the organisation The other short-listed organisations in Category 2 are Kilkenny Volunteer Centre and See Beyond Borders.
Catriona Ryan is the Laois Volunteer Centre Manager.
“We are delighted to be recognised for our work in the area of good governance. These awards are recognition of the work required to be governance compliant. We are keenly aware of the importance of adhering to the principles of good governance which ensure transparency and effectiveness in meeting our overall objectives,” she said. More below picture.

Other notable organisations shortlisted in other categories include Barretstown, Food Cloud, Irish Hospice Foundation, The Care Trust DAC, Jack and Jill Children Foundation, Marie Keating Foundation, Jigsaw and others.
The winners will be announced and the award ceremony will take place in Dublin on November 16.
Category 2 is reserved for organisations with an annual turnover of between €100,000 and €250,000.
Laois Volunteer Centre is a ‘one-stop-shop’ for all volunteering needs in County Laois. Established in 2021, it is part of a national network of volunteer centres funded by the Department of Community and Rural Development.
