The opening was held as part of Biodiversity Week and the event was officiated by Minister of State for Land Use and Biodiversity in the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Pippa Hackett.
The project has been driven by the Camross Parish Development Association along with the development of the community hub and sports field.
The garden was the final but separate element of the development of the Community Park and was supported with Clár funding which was secured with the help of Laois County Council. A key feature is a heritage stone wall that was built by the Camross CES team with local stone.
The garden is located at the rear of the new adult sized sportsfield used by many of the underage teams in Gaelic Games. A walkway is also located in the area which has a focus on nature and the environment.
Speaking following the launch Minister Hackett said: "Camross is one of the most vibrant communities around. A close knit village with unrivalled success in drawing down funds from the state to support its community focussed endeavours. Thank you to Johanna and Kevin, and well done to everyone who has made Camross what it is."
