Gardening lovers visit Castletown for workshop with former Tidy Towns adjudicator

Members from Laois Federation of Tidy Towns got the chance to get some hands-on gardening tips from a Tidy Towns adjudicator during a workshop held in Castletown recently.

Sean Hyland and Siobhan Hayes ( Clough Tidy Towns ), Leah Nolan ( Laois County Council ), Olive Walsh ( Ballinakill Tidy Towns ) and Samantha McLeod, Environmental Awareness Officer at the Laois Federation of Tidy Towns Workshop at Gash Gardens , Castletown.

The Tidy Town groups were provided with information on perennial planting, some of the best weed suppressing plants as well as tips on using rose bushes as hedging options. The meeting offered something for everyone, catering to both novice and
experienced gardeners. For those seeking more adventurous gardening endeavours, Mary presented a variety of options for vibrant and unusual plantings, along with a diverse range of trees and shrubs. 

"The gathering at Gash Gardens has been a fantastic opportunity for our Tidy Towns groups to gain hands-on experience and learn innovative gardening techniques. Mary's guidance has empowered us to implement more sustainable and beautiful green spaces in our communities," said Samantha McLeod, Environmental Awareness Officer.

The Laois Federation of Tidy Towns continues to promote sustainable and aesthetically pleasing environments within the community, with this event marking another successful step in their ongoing efforts.
