The go ahead has been given for road resurfacing works on the L-10778 at Cappagh South, Mountrath.
Fine Gael County Councillor Conor Bergin tabled a motion that Laois County Council address the severe road surface issues on this road.
"It's a brutal road," Cllr Bergin said.
"This is a road that has come up before. I know that the roads group carried out some repairs on it last July, but it has deteriorated a lot. This is a public road too, and should be considered for the next year’s road programme," he said.
"Hopefully it will be addressed soon as it is a brutal road, really really terrible, and I’m sure anyone who was around there during the local elections, it came up too. It certainly came up with me," Cllr Bergin finished.

This motion was seconded by Independent Cllr James Kelly.
"I fully support this motion, the road is in a shocking state," Cllr Kelly said.
"There was work done on the L-10778 recently and there’s more work to be done on that too. We all have to get our roads done. It’s not included in this year’s programme unfortunately," he said.
Mr James Dowling, Senior Executive Engineer with the Council's Road Division replied that Laois County Council Road Maintenance Crews will attend to the surface repairs in the coming weeks.
This motion was presented at the September sitting of the Borris-in-Ossory/Mountmellick Municipal District.
