A big Kilkenny credit union that has thousands of Laois members is to the report for the first time on what it says is its social impact.
St Canice's Credit Union, which has branches in Durrow, Mountrath and Rathdowney, is to publish a report on what difference it is making to communities at its Annual General Meeting in December.
"In addition to our Annual Report, this year we have produced for the first time, a Social Impact Report. We will be launching this at our AGM, and we are very proud to share with you the many positive ways your credit union is contributing to the local community," said the advance notice of the AGM.
While the Social Impact report will not be launched until the AGM, the annual report outlines some of the Laois groups to have benefited from its Community Connect Fund.
These include Mountrath Community Forum - €5,000, St. Fintan’s Mountrath GAA - €5,000, Rathdowney Tidy Towns - €3,000, Clough Tidy Towns - €2,000 and Durrow Meals on Wheels - €2,000.
The Laois groups were among those to attend a St Canice’s CU special event in August to mark their 60th anniversary with the presentation of the 2024 Community Connect grant funds to 22 local community groups. MORE BELOW PICTURE.

The Annual Report for the financial year ended 30th September 2024, Standing Orders, information on the Deposit Guarantee Scheme, arrival of SEPA instant payments in 2025 and Members’ Monthly Prize Draw are available on its website.
Due to changes to the Credit Union Act St Canice's is no longer required to send paper annual report booklets to every member. For those who like to get a paper copy of the Annual Report there will have some hard copy reports available in all our branches, or by post by contacting Member Service Centre on (056) 7722042.
The Social impact report will also be available on its website or at any of branches or by post.
