Three Laois youth clubs on the lookout for new volunteer leaders

If your New Year's resolution is to get more involved in your community, there are three Laois youth clubs crying out for leaders.

Clubs in Mountmellick, Timahoe and Borris-in-Ossory have put out the call, through the Laois Volunteer Centre. In all cases about two hours of time per week is all that is needed.

In Mountmellick the No Name Club are looking for an adult leader to organise and facilitate club meetings.

Borris-in-Ossory Youth Club provides young people from 6th class to 3rd year with a social space on Friday evenings. The leader would also be facilitating trips to recreational centres throughout the year. See the job role here.

In Timahoe, the new Foróige club needs volunteer leaders for one to two hours a week on a Friday evening, usually from September to May. The club is formed to help young people to socialise safely, try new things, develop their confidence and self reliance, get involved in the community and have lots of fun.   See the Timahoe volunteer job here.

Youth volunteers offer young people opportunities to socialise, grow and develop in an alcohol and drug free relaxed environment. Occasional weekends may be involved.  The volunteer gets loads out of it too – like a great relationship with local teenagers, training and being part of a team.
