Laois Kildare community groups fund urged to tap into credit union grants

Mountmellick Credit Union is inviting community groups, sports clubs and other voluntary organisations in Mountmellick, Rathangan, Clonaslee and across their common bond to tap into thousands of euro it sets aside to help community initiatives across Laois and Kildare.

The Credit Union has launched of the 2025 edition of the popular Community Fund. With up to €30,000 in funding available the group says they are committed to supporting initiatives that make a positive impact on the community," says the cred union.

Groups interested are advised to take not of an important change this year in the application process. As part of the Credit Union’s efforts to improve efficiencies and promote sustainability, it says all applications must now be submitted online.

Mountmellick CU says this transition reduces paper, ensures a smoother process for applicants, and helps the credit union manage funding requests more effectively.

Danielle Fitzsimons, Head of Marketing at Mountmellick Credit Union, emphasised the importance of this initiative:

"The Mountmellick CU Community Fund is a vital resource for local groups that work tirelessly to support and enhance our communities. By moving to an online application process, we are streamlining the process and eliminating paper while ensuring consistency in the information we receive.

"We encourage all eligible groups to submit their applications and take advantage of this funding opportunity. If any of our local groups need assistance with the new online form, they can contact us on 057 862 4425 and we will arrange a callback to assist," he said.

To be considered for funding, applicants should:

  • Clearly outline how the funds will benefit the community.
  • Detail how they will promote Mountmellick Credit Union among their members.
  • Consider applying for support for initiatives with an environmental or sustainability focus.
