Michael O’Brien is the Fundraising Officer for Midlands Simon Community.

Midlands Simon Community is calling on individuals, businesses, and communities and across the Midlands to support its vital work in helping those experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

As demand for services continues to rise, Simon is appealing for donations, volunteers, and community-led fundraising events to help us respond to the growing need in PortlaoisePortarlington, Mountmellick and other parts of Laois.

Michael O’Brien was recently appointed as Fundraising Officer for Midlands Simon Community. He emphasised the importance of local support.

“We’ve seen incredible generosity from the people of the Midlands over the years, and now more than ever, we need that support. Whether it’s donating, giving a few hours of your time, or organising a local fundraiser, every effort makes a real difference,” he said.

To kick off a busy year of community engagement, they are hosting a Golf Classic in Mount Temple Golf Club on Friday, June 20. The event will take the form of a 3-ball scramble, with an entry fee of €150 per team. The charity is inviting businesses, sports clubs, and groups of friends to take part or sponsor a tee box. They say it’s a fantastic opportunity to support a worthy cause while enjoying a great day out in beautiful surroundings.
