Embrace FARM, the Laois-based charity that supports families through farm accidents, is inviting people to its annual national remembrance event in Abbeyleix.
Founded by the Rohan family in Shanahoe, the Embrace FARM Ecumenical Remembrance Service aims to bring together farm families from across Ireland to remember loved ones lost within their communities across the island of Ireland.
"Over the past 12 years, this service has become a pillar event for Embrace FARM, providing comfort for families impacted by a serious injury or sudden death within their family unity, and cherishing their memory," said the organisation.
Honouring the tradition of adding names to the Remembrance List, Embrace FARM is also inviting families to submit the names of their deceased loved ones to be read aloud and remembered during the service. Last year, over 350 names were honoured in the roll call.
Embrace FARM was founded by Brian and Norma Rohan after Brian's father, Liam died tragically after suffering a severe blow to his head while working on machinery.
This gap in support led Brian and Norma to create Embrace FARM, in the hope that any other farm families experiencing the same circumstances would have somewhere to turn toward.

“Our community has faced unimaginable loss, and our Remembrance Service offers a safe, non-judgemental space for people who have had a similar experience to gather together and remember loved ones lost. Each name read aloud represents a cherished life and a family forever changed. Our commitment is to ensure that farm families impacted by serious injury or sudden death have a support system to walk this journey with them,” he said.
This year, the service will be held at 2 pm on June 29 in the Church of the Most Holy Rosary in Abbeyleix, and will be live-streamed on embracefarm.com. It will also be broadcast on RTÉ One on Sunday, July 6 at 11:00am.
To include a loved one in this year’s Remembrance Service, please call or WhatsApp 085-7709966, or email info@embracefarm.com with the name, county, year of death, and a photograph if available.
