Four toddler groups in Laois will receive funding to support parents and young children.
Laois Fine Gael TD Willie Aird has welcomed this announcement.
Deputy Aird said the funding can be used by these groups for a variety of purposes including children’s toys, equipment and books as well as refreshments and snacks.
“I’m delighted to see this funding announced for parent and toddler groups in Laois. These groups carry out wonderful work supporting parents and carers in the community," Deputy Aird has said.
“It’s great to see that more and more parents and their toddlers are taking part in these groups every year. These groups provide an outlet where people with young children can come together to share their experiences.
"Today we see an allocation of grants to 461 parent and toddler groups across Ireland, with four groups in Laois benefiting.
“Groups can use the funding for a wide range of purposes, from buggy walking groups to arts and crafts, and to music. Parents can also be supported with parenting courses and courses in first aid for children.
“These groups are an important source of social contact especially for new parents and parents who have just moved to the area.
“I want to thank the local groups who carry out such important works for parents and toddlers across our county," Deputy Aird finished.
