Make connections in Laois for your wellbeing

Laois Offaly training body supports mental health initiative

Portlaoise Library hosts events.

Classes and workshops to support wellbeing, reduce social isolation and encourage creativity and connection feature in a Laois Offaly initiative as part of Laois Connects.

Laois Connects Week has been in place since 2013. It is a collaborative group representative of voluntary and statutory agencies committed to promoting an awareness of mental health, physical health, and emotional well-being.

The Laois Offaly Education and Training Board is supporting the 2025 edition with a series of free six-week classes and workshops coordinated by its Community Education team.

The schedule of planned activities and starting dates is as follows:

  • Form Filling – Portlaoise Library starts September 16, Tuesdays 2pm to 4pm;
  • Digital Help - Portlaoise Library starts September 16, Tuesdays 10.30am to 12.30pm;
  • Art – Durrow Library starts September 16, Tuesdays 3pm to 5pm;
  • Dress Making - LOETB Portarlington FET starts September 16, Tuesdays 10am to 1pm;
  • Art - Stradbally Library starts September 17, Wednesdays 2pm to 4pm;
  • Staying Connected with Digital Skills - Abbeyleix Library starts September 17, Wednesdays 10am to 12pm.

To take part, people are advised to contact their relevant library or Further Education and Training Centre for more details and booking.
