Laois Rose of Tralee to be honoured with civic reception

Laois Rose and International Rose of Tralee 2025, Katelyn Cummins to be celebrated at Laois County Council's highest honour of a civic reception.

A special reception to honour the achievement of the Laois Rose Katelyn Cummins winning the International Rose of Tralee will take place soon.

Laois County Council has voted to bestow its highest honour of a Civic Reception, on Ms Cummins.

The event in council chambers will include a citation, and will be attended by her family and supporters as well as Laois County Council management and county councillors.

It was formally proposed by Cllr Caroline Dwane Stanley, seconded by Cllr John King, at the September council meeting.

A date for the reception is yet to be agreed.

Katelyn Cummins won the Rose of Tralee last August, and has vowed to focus on promoting alternative career paths for women, having chosen an electrical apprenticeship. The Ballyouskill, Kilkenny native works in Alpha Drives in Portlaoise and will shortly be jetting off on international duties as Rose of Tralee.

The talented 20 year old who is also a skilled dancer and farmhand, has appeared at multiple Laois and Irish events already, including Electric Picnic, the National Ploughing Championships and the Lovely Laois Homecoming Festival. See her jiving in a visit to Mountrath here.
