Much-loved celebrity chef, Edward Hayden, will be back in Mountrath this November for the third annual pre-Christmas Cookery Demonstration at Bloom HQ in aid of the Class of 1990 Restoration Project.

Edward’s first sold-out visit in 2023 to the former Brigidine Convent was a hugely enjoyable evening packed with fantastic food all delivered with Edward’s inimitable charm and humour.

The organisers, Class of 1990 Restoration Project, told the Leinster Express / Laois Live that this year’s demonstration promises more of the same as he showcases Christmas recipes and shares hints and tips on how to serve a feast this festive season - and make it look easy in the process.

Ticket-holders will also get the chance to do some early Christmas shopping, supporting the finest Laois produce and crafts at a pop-up market in St Philomena’s Hall. A raffle is promised with "fantastic prizes" - including some of Edward's dishes on the night - will take place, and refreshments will also be available. MORE BELOW PHOTO.

Work already carried out at Bloom HQ, pictured above, will continue with the help of funds raised at the demonstration.

The event organisers are a group of former students of the Brigidine school in Mountrath who fundraise to assist with the restoration and rejuvenation of their old school buildings.

Profits from this year’s demonstration will go towards the ongoing project to rejuvenate the entrance and gardens between the Bloom HQ buildings and St Fintan’s Church.

Extensive blueprints have already been drawn up and donated by Class of 1990 student Noranne Scott of Scott Landscape Design, and plans are in place to achieve a modern, sustainable and attractive space for community use and enjoyment, along with a memorial to the Brigidine Sisters and Patrician Brothers.

The work will also restore and maintain the historic yew trees in the grounds.

The event takes place on Tuesday, November 18, with doors opening at 7 pm and the Demo getting underway at 8 pm.

Tickets are sure to sell out, so anyone who wants to spend a wonderful evening in the company of the effervescent and talented Edward Hayden should get theirs now at Centra and Telfords in Mountrath, and on Eventbrite HERE.
