A Laois County Councillor with Dáil ambitions has tied the knot in regal Rome.
The Fine Gael representative, Borris-in-Ossory man Cllr Conor Bergin married his long-time partner Leonie Canavan last Thursday.
The councillor shared photos to social media of their gorgeous Vatican wedding.
The happy couple have been together for several years, and keep their relationship out of the public eye apart from some political occasions.

Originally from Westmeath, Ms Canavan works as a primary school teacher, previously teaching in Portlaoise.
This has been an eventful year for the Laois politician, who recently qualified as a solicitor. May saw his entry into the legal profession after training since the Covid-19 pandemic in a Portlaoise practice.

Cllr Bergin was also appointed Cathaoirleach of Laois County Council's Borris in Ossory / Mountmellick Municipal District in September.
A popular candidate in his electoral area, Cllr Bergin topped the votes in the 2024 local elections, earning 1,606 first preference votes. His partner Leonie stood by his side through last year's campaign.
She was also at his side when he bid to win the nomination to be Fine Gael's candidate in the 2024 General Election.
While he withdrew from that process at the Convention to give Willie Aird a clear run, Cllr Bergin who one worked for Charlie Flanagan, has stated he will bid to be a TD on another occasion.
