The No Room for The Groom fundraiser for the Love Port project took place last Friday night July 6 in the Rugby Club Portarlington. A great night was had by all, so much so that as everyone was leaving there was lots of talk about next year’s event. The Love Port education committee would like to thank everyone who attended on the night, everyone who supported the night in any way, those who helped transform the venue into a bridal paradise. A special thank you to Portarlington Rugby Club and all the wonderful staff there on the night. Our Dj for the night who had everyone up dancing. To Marion Rooney for her fabulous wedding cake. CALOR COMMUNITY CHAMPION
Search for Ireland’s unsung hero 2012. Calor understands the work carried out each day by local volunteers in parishes across the Diocese of Kildare & Leighlin. They have launched the Calor Community Champion 2012, to give recognition and €10,000 reward to those who go above and beyond the call, who get things done and work tirelessly each day to improve the lives of people around them. The winner will receive €1,500 and a bursary of €7,500 to give to their nominated charity or organisation that nominated them. Closing date will take place the end of July. Condolences to the family of Edward (Ned) Maguire, Crowe Lane and formerly of Treascon. Requiem mass took place for Ned at St Michael’s Church, with burial after to St Michael’s Cemetery.

One of Gracefield’s lady footballers got married this weekend. Michelle Doyle, daughter of Mick and Deirdre Doyle Churchview to Denis Boland, son of Owen and Olwyn Boland Ballybrittas. The ceremony took place in Bracknagh Church and reception afterwards in Kilashee House. Gracefield GAA would like to wish Michelle and Denis a long and happy life together.

This weekend the Festival Francais de Portarlington takes place. The committee have been working hard for months to make this a huge success. Plenty to do for all the family.
