The Laois Hospice Foundation were delighted to present new equipment bought for the Laois Palliative Care Team.
New syringe pumps were bought and presented by the foundation, thanks to money raised through donations and fundraisers.
Laois Hospice Foundation supports patients with cancer and other life limiting illnesses at home.
The presentation was attended by Dr Frances O’Mahony, Sonya Brennan, Michelle Comerford, Olive Delaney, Sarah Bergin, Mary Finlay, Paula O’Rourke, Dr Anna Gullane, Phyllis Howlin, Mary Delaney, Frances Neville, Irene Murray and Mary Manning.

This equipment will be used in the community by the Palliative Care team to enhance comfort and symptom management for patients nearing end of life in their own homes, surrounded by their loved ones.
"The total cost of this equipment is €22,140 and this is only possible by the generosity of all the people who contribute so generously to Laois Hospice," a representative said.
"Laois Hospice Foundation is now eagerly awaiting the progression of the new Midlands In- Patient Hospice in Tullamore for the people of the Midlands who have been waiting 15 years for this unit. It must progress now without any further delays," they said.

The final decision of the planning application for the proposed Midlands Regional Hospice will be determined by Offaly County Councillors.
The construction of the facility has been disputed for a number of years in relation to the chosen location of the planned site at Arden Lane in Tullamore.
The due date of the decision by Offaly County Council is expected on January, 1 2026.
