MOUINTRATH GAA CLUB
Mountrath GAA will hold a fun day on Sunday September 2 commencing at 1pm and finishing at 5pm with something for all ages.
THE LATE MRS MAURA KERWIN
The death took place on July 20 of Maura Kerwin Clonard, after a bravely borne illness. Her remains were removed on Sunday evening to St Fintans Church Mountrath and following requiem mass on Monday was buried in the cemetery at the Church of the Most Holy Rosary Abbeyleix. Wife of the late Paddy and mother of the late Billy, she is deeply regretted by her daughter Kathy, sons Padraig, Simon, Martin, and JJ, daughter in laws, son in law, grandchildren, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.
HOMEMADE JAM
The sale of homemade jam continues in Costcutters and in Phelan’s shop in Castletown. The proceeds of this goes to the Laois Hospice Portlaoise. Your support is greatly needed. Thanks to all who have supported.
ST FINTAN’S GAA CLUB
This week’s winning numbers were 05, 11, 12, 20. There was no jackpot winner. The house prize was won by B. Donovan. The promoters prize was won by M. Tiernan, G. Dooley. Next week’s jackpot stands at €11,000. The draw will be in Tom’s.
LIBRARY
The summer reading challenge is underway and will continue until August 31. To complete the challenge children must read 6 books before the end date and collect stickers along the way. At the end of the summer successful readers will be presented with a gold medal. Register at the library desk.
The book chosen for the August meeting of the adult book club is ‘The Orange Mocha-Chip Frappuccino Years’ by Ross O’Carroll-Kelly. The club meets on the first Thursday of every month and new members are always welcome.
The knitting club meets every Friday morning, new members very welcome.

WEEKLY CLEANUP
Various members and volunteers of Mountrath Tidy Towns committee, which is a sub-committee of Mountrath Development Association, will be meeting every Thursday evening at the car park on Main Street at 7pm.
OLD TIME DANCING
Every Sunday night in Portlaoise GAA Centre from 9.30pm to 11.30pm for only €7. Music will be supplied by Images this coming Sunday night, August 5.

HERITAGE WORKSHOP
There will be a “Hands-on History” workshop with Jude Stynes on Tuesday August 21 in Mountrath Library at 6pm. This workshop is for children aged from eight to 12 years. Contact Bernie Foran at 057 86 74312 for more information.
INTRODUCTION TO BEES AND BEE-KEEPING
