Emo Tidy Towns

Emo Tidy towns announce a free electrical recycling of end of life household goods on Tuesday Jan 26 from 4 pm -7 pm in Emo Sports Field car park. All electrical or battery operated household goods accepted.Please avail of this local opportunity to recycle unwanted items large or small. WEE Ireland is providing the service supported by Laois County Council.


Wee Ireland and Laois County Coucil will also free recycling on Thursday, January 28 at The Final Furlong Car Park, Ballybrittas (9am – 1pm) and also on January 28 in the Community Centre Car Park, Killenard (3pm – 7pm).


Operation Transformation with O'Dempsey's GAA

Monday, 7.15am in Killenard Community Center (weigh in is optional each Monday) followed by a walk or couch to 5k and meet up again on Wednesday evening at 7pm.

Emo GAA Dinner Dance is taking place on Saturday Feb 27 in The Heritage Hotel Portlaoise. Music by Transmitter and spot prizes on the night! Tickets are €40 and are available from any committee member.

Club membership is now €20 please contact members Pat Gorman and Darren Strong. Next monthly meeting will take place on the February 3 at 8pm in Emo Community Centre.

Laois GAA Annual Draw €130 tickets are now available from committee members. First Draw takes place on the March 4.

1916 Grants

Grants for Projects to commemorate the centenary of 1916 s are now available for community groups and organisations planning to organise events or projects in Laois relating to the Centenary of the 1916 Rising.

Projects funded in Laois must reflect the values of the National Ireland 2016 programme and be in keeping with the Laois programme available to download at The Ireland 2016 Laois Community Grants are being administered by Laois County Council. Hard copies be posted on request.

The closing date for receipt of completed applications is Monday February 1.

Late John MILLER

Condolences to the family of the late John Miller Boveen House, Sharavogue, Birr, formerly of Rathcrea Vicorstown, who died peacefully in the loving care of Cloverlodge Nursing Home Shinrone. Deeply Regretted by his brothers, sisters, extended family, relatives & friends. Reposed in Treacys Funeral Home Shinrone. Removal to St Colmans Church Kilcolman for concelebrated Funeral Mass. Burial afterwards in the adjoining Cemetery. John played with the club in his younger days before moving to Offaly. John had many connections withAnnanought GAA club including his brothers Robert (Rathmore) and James Snr (Rathcrea) as well as his nephews Bobby, James and Simon Miller.
