Wind farm firm supports Laois Offaly tractor run for children

A company that is proposing to build a wind farm in Offaly has supported an initiative that aims to fund educational assessments for children locally.

The Irish renewable energy business, Galetech Group, recently presented €2,000 to the Portarlington Lions Club in support of a tractor run in and around the streets and roads of the Laois Offaly town.

Funds raised by this year's tractor run were in aid of the psychological and full educational assessments for a local child.

As part of the proposed 79MW Cushina Windfarm project, Galetech says it is committed to benefiting the local communities and stakeholders.

It says the proposed 11-turbine windfarm project located in the townlands of Clonsast and Raheenakeeran, Co Offaly, is aimed to generate enough renewable energy to power 85,700 homes and a Community Benefit Fund worth €460,000 each year.

“We are working towards a sustainable future, and this extends beyond the renewable energy we generate. Galetech strives to operate in a responsible and sustainable manner for the benefit of all of our stakeholders, including those living close to our wind farm,” she said.

Headquartered in Co Cavan, Galetech says it has supported utilities, independent power producers (IPPs), public bodies and industrial clients with project development, engineering, project supervision, operations & maintenance, inspections and repairs, asset performance, and sustainable building solutions.

The Group employs 150 people across Ireland, the UK, Australia, and Africa.
