Lennon's Bar in Durrow is one of the two pubs which secured planning
An online fundraising page has been set up by objectors to two proposed IPAS centres in Durrow.
The page was set up after Laois County Council granted planning approval to convert two pubs on Mary Street in Durrow for use as International Protection Accommodation Services(IPAS) centres.
A well attended public meeting was held in Durrow in relation to the plans on Monday and organisers agreed that expert help was needed to appeal the decision. The page has been set up in order to fund the appeal.
Donations of €1,378 had been made within a day of the page being set up. The target is €15,000.

The fundraising page reads: ”Durrow Community Council are seeking donations to assist in it's appeal to An Coimisiún Pleanála to overturn planning permission granted for the development of two IPAs Centres in the middle of Durrow Village, County Laois, Ireland.
Your kind donation will help us: Engage professional planning services to facilitate our appeal to An Coimisiún Pleanála - The Irish Planning Commission.
Cover administration costs such as photocopying and printing for public meetings. Assist with legal fees.”

Plans at Peadar's Bar were also approved by Laois County Council
Durrow Community Council said updates about the campaign will be available on their website at www.durrow.ie and on their facebook page. They thanked everyone who was supporting the campaign.
