The recent Mountmellick Fashion show has proved a big sucess in raising money for the Parish fund while also creating a big social event for the town.
The idea to hold a fashion show in aid of the Mountmellick Parish Debt Campaign began last autumn when a group of interested parishioners were discussing possible ways to raise money to help reduce the Parish debt.
Since last Christmas the Fashion Show Extravaganza Committee met on a weekly basis meticulously planning every detail necessary for the successful running of the fashion show.
The committee would like to thank all who attended the Fashion Show in aid of Mountmellick Parish 10 year Debt Campaign on May 27 in the Sports Complex, Mountmellick Community School.
Thanks are also extended to the compere Paula Kinnarney and to Supervalu and Avonmore for providing the cheese and the wine on the night.
The committe thanks all thosel who donated prizes towards auction and raffle, sponsors of our event, all who gave donations and who helped out voluntarily before, during and after the event to make it such a huge success.
“We particularly acknowledge the businesses that participated on the evening with the opening of the Show by a selection of hairstyles from Christles, Zona’s, Lauras and the Mop Shop followed by Junk Couture – Transition Year Students, MCS, Bredas Gift Shop, Shaws, Colgan Sports, No. 1 Boutique, Eamon Brackens Menswear, Bridal Hall Ballybrittas and Fashion Boutique,” said the committee.
The organiser were also grateful for the assistance of the Mens Shed and Riverdance from Mountmellick Community School for their entertainment and Pat Conroy for the uction.
“We also thank our guest of the evening Kate Hyland our Laois Rose. Kate was warmly received by all and we wish her every success in Tralee,” said the organisers.
The amount raised was €15,898.73 which the Committee are very grateful for.
The dedicated committee was helped by many volunteers.
