Mountrath CS Transition Years bond over team games

The sixty new TYs at Mountrath Community School got off to a fun start at a team bonding day.

Hosted by Ben’s Surf School on the school pitch, it was jam packed with games requiring group work.

Student Senan Moran, 16, explained the activities.

“We were divided into groups and told to lift a stick using only our fingertips. It was very difficult and we failed numerous times. The instructor quoted Einstein, "the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result,” he said.

A game of musical chairs used ten plastic boxes that were gradually removed leaving only two in the end.

“That taught us how to make the best of our resources,” said Senan.

“Everyone really enjoyed the day and found it very entertaining. We look forward to the great year ahead,” said Senan, who hopes TY will point the way to his future choices after school.

“I am looking forward to work experience in my local pharmacy, and going on the European trip too,” he said.
