Pamper day for Laois Down Syndrome teens

A well deserved 'pamper day' was enjoyed recently by the teenage members of Laois Down Syndrome, as a treat by a local hotel.

The Heritage Hotel Killenard had adopted Laois Down Syndrome as their preferred charity this year, and last month they arranged a special treat for its young members.

For the young ladies, there was a Pamper Session in the hotel's luxury Spa Resort.

The lads enjoyed a screening of the movie X-Men in the hotel's in-house cinema, along with complimentary fresh popcorn and drinks to round off the speciial movie treat.

Afterwards, all the teens reunited for a meal and s drinks , laid on by the hotel.

Laois Down Syndrome chairman Michael Gorman thanked the hotel for arranging the day for the charity, which supports families of people with Down Syndrome across Laois, based in their Abbeyleix centre.

“ Our young adults had a ball on the day. Our sincere thanks go to Robert Wright, owner, and Eimear Treacy, Manager of the Heritage Hotel Killenard who have adopted us as their charity,” Mr Gorman said.

“Outings like this mean so much to our young adults, allowing them to gather and socialise in social settings such as the beautiful Heritage Hotel in Killenard,” he said.
