Another public march will be held on the Sunday, April 29 at 2pm to protest against the closure of Abbeyleix Hospital. The hospital has served this area well over a long period of time. The organisers of the march are requesting representation from every community in Laois. This includes Attanagh and it expected that a large group of people should take part from this area. The support of everyone is needed.

The newest arrival in Attanagh is baby Edward born recently to Craig and Ciara Ince who are also busy completing their new house which is a welcome addition to the area. Congratulations and best wishes to the Ince family.

Bird boxes have now been erected around the village thanks to the work of Walter Phelan and bird expert Joe Dowling. By providing safer nesting for small birds this is part of the ongoing efforts to improve the natural environment around the village. Keep a look out for new feathery neighbours.

There were six tables at last Friday evening’s 25 Progressive Card Game. The winners were Neddy Delaney and Jim Mooney (13 games); Tommy White and Billy Kirby (12 games). The card games will conclude this coming Friday evening with the proceeds of same to go to the missions (Mem’s night) for which your support is requested. Thanks to everyone who attended the games during the winter months. We look forward to seeing you all again next season.
