On Sunday May 24, the ladies basketball team from Durrow/Abbeyleix Macra traveled to University of Limerick. This was to compete in a day of matches to be in with a chance to reach the All-Ireland Macra na feirme Basketball final. They won matches against Tullow, Carlow, Treble R, Dublin, Mitchelstown, Cork, and Brehen, Sligo to reach the final. However, they were narrowly defeated in the final to Crookstown, Cork. Well done to Bríd Walsh, Laura Brennan, Majella Delaney, Catherine Walshe and Elma Walshe who represented the club on the day and played tremendously. The raffle winners on the night were Elizabeth Quinlan, Maureen Cahill, Nuala Beale and Margaret Carter. Supper was served by Bridie Troy and Peggy Brennan.
