Laois Heritage Society will be presenting a workshop on Thursday August 22 as part of Heritage Week.
Entitled ‘Troubled Times in Laois’, this is a talk by historian and author Mike Rafter. This talk coincides with, and will touch on themes and the period featured in an exhibition of paintings by Mick O’Dea entitled ‘1919-1921, Trouble in Ireland’, curated by Kevin Kavanagh, which is on show at Dunamaise Gallery throughout the summer.
Mike Rafter is the author of The Quiet County: Towards a History of the Laois Brigade IRA and Revolutionary Activity in the County 1913-1923. People can come along and learn more about local activity during this fascinating period in Ireland’s national history.
This talk is free but there is limited capacity.
People can book by contacting the Dunamaise at 057 86 63355 or by visiting www.dunamaise.ie. For more contact Teddy Fennelly at 087 241 6512.
