The death has occurred of Mr Michael Brannigan, Lowhill, Ballinakill, Co. Laois. Michael’s unexpected passing came as a great shock to all who knew him.
He was a very popular member of the farming community and had a great interest in vintage tractors and was known to attend and take part in many shows.
Removal from his home took place on Saturday evening, October 19 to the Church of the Assumption, Ballyouskill.
Requiem mass took place the following day celebrated by Fr Tom Murphy PP, Ballyragget and Fr John Bowe SMA Missionary Priest with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
There was an extremely large attendance on both days which bore testament to the esteem Michael was held in. Deepest sympathy is extended to Michael’s wife Maura, son Eddie; daughters Marie, Grainne and Eilish; daughter in law Mary; sons in law Darren, Tom and Paul; nephews, nieces, grandchildren, relatives and many, many friends.
May he rest in peace.
A meeting will take place in the Wheel Inn, Ballyouskill next Wednesday October 30 at 9.30pm to resume discussions on fundraising to purchase a defibrillator for the area.
This is an invaluable piece of life saving equipment and is now a necessity in rural areas.
If you are interested please come along to this meeting tomorrow evening for the discussion.
