Ellen Wall, Fiona Maher and the Brownies, scouts and girl guides for their lovely carol singing who got the crib off to a melodious start Christmas week and Santa of course for paying a surprise visit the same night. All who visited the crib, chatted to the animals, brought food, said a prayer, told a story or donated to our voluntary collection for Rathdowney branch of St. Vincent De Paul.

Ossory Cycling Club.

OCC is a newly formed cycling club in Laois, we are now into our third year as a club. We carter for both Leisure and the more competitive Cyclist. Our aim is to promote cycling in Laois and surrounding areas. we currently have cyclist from both Tipperary and Kilkenny. We have come quite a long way since we started up. There has being two Leisure cycle events and one cycling Ireland road held in Rathdowney and our club has also being taking part in an inter Club cycling Competition for the last two years. if you are interested in joining our club feel free to join us on Sunday Mornings from the Square Rathdowney starting at 10am sharp.

Late Annie RYAN

Condolences to the family of Annie Ryan (née Burke) of Ross, Rathdowney, who passed away on December 23 peacefully, at her residence. Deeply regretted by her family, Richard, Mary, Margaret and Ann, extended family relatives and friends. Reposed at her residence. Removal to Church of the Immaculate Conception Galmoy for funeral Mass followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Late Peter DELANEY

Condolences to the family of the late Peter (Pean) Delaney of Ross, Rathdowney who died on December 23 peacefully at St Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny. Deeply regretted by his family, Michael, Anne and Loughlin, extended family, relatives and friends. Reposed at O’ Sullivan’s Funeral Home, Rathdowney, Removal to The Church of The Holy Trinity, Rathdowney, for funeral Mass, followed by burial in the local cemetery.

Late Elizabeth THOMPSON

Condolences to the family of the late Elizabeth (Betty) Thompson (née Lewis) of Tinnaclohy, Donaghmore who died on December 25 peacefully at home in the loving care of her family. Wife of the late Geoffrey and dear mother to the late Patricia. Sadly missed by her family, Anne, Erica and Robert, extended family, relatives and friends. Reposed at her home. Funeral service in St. Canice’s church, Aghaboe followed by burial in the adjoining churchyard.

Late Edith Brophy

Condolences to the family of the late Edith Brophy (née Green) Erika Court, Rathdowney, on December 27, peacefully, at home. Deeply regretted by her loving husband Martin and her beloved children, relatives and friends. Reposed at home. Funeral Mass in The Church of The Holy Trinity Rathdowney followed by burial in Bealady Cemetery.

Laois Hospice AGM

The Laois Hospice Foundation Annual Public Meeting will take place on Friday, January 17 at 8pm in the Killeshin Hotel, Portlaoise. Special Guests Mr Sean O’Rourke, and Ms Eileen Dunne, RTE.
