Borris-in-Ossory Social Services annual outing will take place on Tuesday July 1. The venue this year is Dublin Zoo, with a stop for morning tea/coffee en route and returning to the Gandon Inn for evening meal. Borris in Ossory Defibrillator group is looking for new people to train to keep this vital service in the area. We would also like existing members to do a refresher course in the coming weeks. An open day will take place at Clonohill Gardens, Coolrain on Sunday June 8 in aid of Laois Hospice and the new Solas Bhride Centre. The gardens will be open from 1pm - 7pm.

Owner Enda Thompson Phelan will be on hand to guide visitors around the 1.5 acre gardens. Visitors can purchase plants on the day and gardening and cookery books will also be on sale, all in aid of charity.

Afternoon tea will be served. Clonohill House and Gardens are adjacent to Laois Angling Centre, Coolrain.

The gardens will be signposted on the day or follow signs to Laois Angling Centre.


The dates for this year’s cemetery masses in the parish are as follows: Wednesday June 4 - New Cemetery, Borris-in-Ossory at 7.30pm. Wednesday June 11 - Knockaroo Cemetery at 7.30pm. Wednesday June 18 - Killasmeestia Cemetery at 7.30pm and Wednesday June 25 - Skeirke Cemetery at 7.30pm.


Borris-in-Ossory ICA meeting will take place on Wednesday June 4. Will all members please note that the meeting will start at the later time of 8.30pm due to the cemetery mass in the new cemetery.


The Trocaire collection in Borris in Ossory has now reached €2,485 and thanks are extended to all who contributed to this collection.

From Tuesday night May 27, and every Tuesday night until end of summer months, OCC are reintroducing their A, B and leisure group cycles. Cycles will commence at 7pm sharp. Each group will have its own team leader and each leader will pick a course that will suite their group. We would like to welcome any new leisure cyclist to joins on our cycles, The leisure cycle is guaranteed to be at a pace that will suite everybody in the group (Slow). All are welcome to join us, juveniles must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Important, helmets must be worn at all times. No helmet no cycle.
