Ballyfin Community alert will hold their AGM on Monday 9th March at 8.30pm in Ballyfin Community Centre. A crime prevention officer from Portlaoise Garda Station will attend on the night. Please support.


The Mountrath branch of Laois heart foundation will hold their monthly meeting in the cosy cafe on March 18 at 8.00 pm. All members are asked to attend. New members are always welcome to join.


World Day Of Prayer takes place this year on Friday night March 6 in St Peters Church Mountrath at 8pm. Written by Christian women of the Bahamas, Will you join us?

Clonenagh Parish are holding Golf Classic at Mountrath Golf Club May This is to raise funds for the necessary repairs to windows at St Peters Church . More details in to time .


The Lotto draw was held on Monday February 23 in Kelly’s Pub and the numbers drawn were 16,17,22,26. There was no winner of the jackpot which now stands at 4,600 and the next draw will take place on Monday March 2 in Bennetts Pub.

The club thanks all who helped to host Laois Scór in St Fintan’s Hall, Mountrath on Friday, February 20. Well done to our set dancers, novelty act and solo singer who all go on to represent St Fintan’s GAA and Laois in the Leinster semi finals in Birr on Saturday, March 7. Thanks to our table quiz team who unfortunately did not make it through. “An chuid is fearr an-ádh” - the very best of luck.

Condolences to the family of the late Mai Conroy (née Delaney), Roundwood, Mountrath who died on February 21 at St James’s Hospital. Deeply regretted by her sorrowing son, brothers, sisters extended family, relatives and friends. Reposed at home. Removal to St. Fergal’s Church Camross, for Funeral Mass at 12 noon, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.


Condolences to the family of the late Brid Buckley (née Hogan) of Blackrock, Dublin & Ballyfin who died on February 23. Beloved wife of the late Denis and dear mother of Maurice. Very sadly missed by her sisters, brothers, extended family, relatives and friends. Reposing in Carnegie’s Funeral Home, Monkstown, Dublin. Removal to Church of the Guardian Angels for Funeral Mass. Burial in Shanganagh Cemetery Dublin.

Late Sr Eilish COSTELLO

Condolences to the family of the late Sr Eilish Costello, Dundalk, Louth formerly Ballyfin who died on February 20 peacefully in the care of Mount Olliver Nursing Home Dundalk. Sr Eilish Costello F.M.S.A will be sadly missed and remembered with love by the Francisscan Missionary Sisters of Africa, her sisters, nieces, Nephews and a large circle of relatives and friends. Reposed in Mount Oliver Oratory Chapel. Removal to Convent Chapel for Funeral Mass followed by burial in Community Cemetery.
