A virtual bog walk and a play National Heritage Week 2013 which takes place nationwide from August 17 – 25.
A snapshot of some of the events taking place in Laois during National Heritage Week include a the Marine Experience which is an interactive marine workshop that introduces all age groups to the wonders of Ireland’s marine world.
There will be lunchtime Concerts at St. Peter’s Church Portlaoise, an evening Camross Comhaltas and a céilí & set dancing in Ballyfinl. There is a Hidden Quarries & Woodland Gems wlkl in the Slieve Blooms a virtual bog walk in Mountmellick and a real bog walk in Abbeyleix.
Genealogy Workshop takes place in Portlaoise while Irish History live makes a welcome return to the county’s libraries.
There will bn interactive, all-ages, theatre show exploring hurling
The Night Sky Over Laois features and there will be a High Nelly cycle while Mountmellick hosts a spectacular embroidery exhibition.
There will be a skill, share and care saturday and steam train rides in Stradbally as well as a wildlife Walk in the Slieve Bloom Mountains. Maureen Culleton hosts a Sean Nos dance workshop.
