Pat Costelloe will supply the music for the parish social and dance in the parish centre on Saturday, October 5. Dancing will commence at 9.30pm until 12.30am and admission including supper is €7.
Many Camross people made the journey to Ratheniska for the ploughing championships last week and all agreed it was a wonderful occasion and already they are looking forward to making the same journey next year.
A memorial mass for the late Sean Tyrell formerly of Cahir Coolrain who died in Manchester will be celebrated in St Fergals Church Camross on Sunday, October 6, at 10am.
Sean and his brother Charlie helped Camross win junior in ‘57, intermediate a year later and their first senior hurling title in 1959. Sean wore the number 14 jersey in all three finals but emigrated to Liverpool soon after the senior final where he worked on lifeboats for many years and later moved to Manchester where he lived all his life.
Sean passed away on August 31 and his remains were removed to Our Lady of Grace church Prestwick for requiem mass and afterwards was laid to rest in Manchester.
Sean, who was predeceased by his sister Maureen and brother Ciaran Joe, is mourned by his wife Margaret of 48 years, three daughters Cathy, Joanne and Geraldine, grandchildren, sisters Brid in Manchester, Christina in Dublin and Philomena Lalor in Ballinakill, brother Dave in Cahir and Charlie in Baldonnell, Dublin.
Run for the Hills
Camross National school in conjunction with Camross GAA club are holding a family 5k fun run on Sunday morning, October 6, commencing in Camross village at midday.
Registration will take place in the community hall from 10.30am. Entry fee is €10 but those with sponsorship cards exceeding €50 will be exempt from entry fee. Prizes will be presented on the day and light refreshments available in the community centre.
Also on the morning is a kids beat the teacher dash commencing at 11.30am, all are welcome and you can run fly or crawl all in a good cause.

Camross mass times are as follows: on Saturday evening 8pm and on Sunday morning at 10am, and in St Aiden’s Church in Killenure on Sunday morning it is at 8.45am.
