The group met on January 31 to decide the next steps in setting up the Text Alert system. A flyer containing a form will be sent out by the end of February, outlining how the alert works. Followed by a public meeting on March 20 in the Community Centre to launch it, offer informationand take registrations.
Upcoming Mountmellick Comhaltas events will be seisiuns and our annual concert. Also all are welcome to the ciorcal comhra in the library every Thursday morning at10am. The first few minutes will give a chance to learn a new sentence in Irish each week.
The next competitions in the Scor series are the u17 Table Quiz in St Pauls School on the Borris Road Portlaoise at 7pm on Friday February 21. Each GAA club can enter as many teams as they like. And on the following night, February 22 the Senior Scor takes place in Camross school with registration at 7.30pm. This includes singing, dancing, recitation etc and the Table Quiz. It would be wonderful to have the club represented on both nights. If you are entering on either night please text Margaret with a confirmation on 085 713 8940 and turn up at the venues.
St Patrick’s day
We would like to invite all community groups to participate in the parade, your floats bring great fun and entertainment to the parade. We have two prizes 1st Prize €75 2nd Prize €50. If you have a vintage car/farm vehicle we would love to see you on the day.

A service fo rthe late Liz O’Loughlin took place in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Arles on Sunday, February 16, at 2pm followed by burial of her ashes in the adjoining cemetery.
