The annual Senior Citizens Party will be held this Sunday February 23 in the PE Hall at St Joseph’s National School. Party starts at 12.30pm and lunch served at 1pm, followed by music, song & dance. All Senior Citizens in the parish invited.


A Social will take place in Killasmeestia Community Centre on Friday February 21 with music by Brian McDermott. Dancing from 9.30pm-12.30am and supper will be served.

The school will hold an official opening day on May 2. We hope to have a display of photographs on the day. If anyone has any old photos of the school they can be handed in to Pauline Gardiner or Kathryn Bergin at the school. Please put your name and phone number on the back of the photographs so that they can be returned.


There will be a Parish Mission on the first week of November. The Mission will be conducted by the Redemptorists.


Fr Robinson will give a talk to Parents/Guardians of First Communicants on Tuesday February 18 in Borris-in-Ossory Church at 7.30pm.


The Progressive 25 Drive continues every Thursday night in the O’Brien Hall at 9pm. All are welcome.


The annual 25 card game in aid of Multiple Sclerosis will take place on Thursday March 6 in the O’Brien Hall at 9pm. Support us by coming along on the night, buying a ticket, giving a donation or sponsoring a raffle prize. Tickets €10.


The Joseph Thompson Memorial Billiards Tournament will be starting shortly. This annual tournament commemorates the late Joseph Thompson, Borris in Ossory, who was a well-known billiard player. Each year it attracts top class competitors from all over Ireland and is rated as one of the best billiard competitions in the country. Anyone wishing to take part contact Joe 086 8421598.

The Cavanagh Cup Perpetual Billiards Tournament will start in the O’Brien Hall shortly. This competition is confined to paid up members of the club. Anyone interested in taking part should put their name on the sheet hanging in the hall.


Set Dancing classes continue on Monday nights in St Canice’s Hall starting at 8.30pm. The cost is €5 per night.


The Clonaslee and Roscrea/Nenagh Wheelchair Basketball Clubs wish to thank everyone who supported the Fundraising Event in Racket Hall.

Borris-in-Ossory ICA guild ran a six week course of armchair Pilates in St Canice’s Hall before Christmas with Julie Maguire, which proved to be very successful. It is hoped to start a further six week course of armchair Pilates on March 12. These exercises are not too intensive or strenuous. The Annual Ossory Pilgrimage to Lourdes will take place this year from Thursday May 22 to Tuesday May 27 inclusive. The cost will be €745 PPS.
