Anyone for Tennis

Laois County Council will hold parks tennis in Rathdowney at St Fergal’s College from July 21-25. Lessons from Monday to Friday: 10am-11.30am (5-9 years); 12pm-2pm 10-14 years. Late Evelyn mooney

Condolences to the family of the late Evelyn Mooney (née Bergin) of Donaghmore who died on Friday, June 27 peacefully at home with her loving family. Evelyn (publican) passed away following a brief illness. Deeply regretted by her husband Noel and her daughter Yvonne and son Vincent, relatives and friends. Reposed at her daughter Yvonne’s residence (Donaghmore). Removal at 10.30am to the Church of the Holy Trinity, Rathdowney for funeral mass followed by burial in Bealady Cemetery.


Donaghmore Workhouse & Agriculture Museum, the museum will be open all weekends and bank holidays throughout the months of June, July, August and September between the hours of 2pm to 5pm. A great bingo is held every Tuesday night at 8.30pm in the Rathdowney Community Centre. Your support would be greatly appreciated. Bingo is run by the Community Centre Group.


There was no winner in this week’s Rathdowney GAA Lotto jackpot which was €3,550. The numbers drawn were 8, 15, 16, 25. Our next fundraiser is Rock n Roll Bingo with DJ Noel Brennan in O’Malley’s Saturday July 12, kicking off at 9pm. It promises to be a great night, all welcome, music afterwards. The club meets every Tuesday night until end of summer months OCC are reintroducing their A, B and leisure group cycles. Cycles will commence at 7pm sharp. Each group will have its own team leader and each leader will pick a course that will suite their group. We would like to welcome any new leisure cyclist to joins on our cycles, the leisure cycle is guaranteed to be at a pace that will suite everybody in the group [slow]. All are welcome to join us, juveniles must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Important, helmets must be worn at all times, no helmet no cycle.
