Bus to Knock Shrine

A bus will leave Camross Village on July 20 at 8.30am to Knock Shrine. Names in by Thursday July 17. Contact Shiela Ryan at 8735217.

Race Night

The Camross CES (FAS) will be holding their annual race night on Saturday night July 26 in the Camross Inn. This fundraiser enables the CE workers to get on with all the work they are doing from Kilanure and Camross down to Coolrain. In the coming weeks CE staff will be calling to all houses in the parish requesting you to buy a horse for €20. We have received great support in the past and are hopeful people will show the same generosity once again.

Macra Barbecue

Camross Macra Na Feirme presents its annual fund raising barbecue in Bergin’s Lounge on Saturday night next July 12. Music will be provided by Tim Chambers and a great night’s entertainment is assured with Laois Hospice the main beneficiary.

Cemetery Mass

Cemetery mass will be celebrated on Friday August 1, weather permitting, in the cemetery at 8pm.


Former Camross and Laois hurler Seamus Cuddy of Aughduff the son of Jim and Lil and the winner of a Waterford senior football medal with the Nire 21 years ago has been bereaved by the death of his father in law Michael (Mick) O’Sullivan. Michael passed away on Tuesday July 1 at Cork Regional Hospital. Michael was a native of Ballybrien, Ballymacarbry, Clonmel, County Waterford and was a prominent business man

Removal took place to St Laurence’s Church, Four Mile Water for requiem mass on Friday morning followed by burial to adjoining cemetery.

Michael is mourned by his wife Betty, daughters Colette, Margaret and Muriel. Sons Michael and Shane, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, brothers, sister’s nephews, nieces relatives friends and neighbours to whom deepest sympathy is extended.

Late Fr Con Campion

The death took place on Thursday last in Navan of Fr Con Campion a native of Errill County Laois. Fr Con spent time in the Diocese of Ossory and celebrated mass in Camross on numerous occasions. Fr Campion was laid to rest in Navan on Saturday last.

free vocational assessment service for individuals who have an

acquired brain injury and would like assistance and guidance

in returning to work, training or education. It is free to anyone with an acquired brain injury and in receipt of a payment from the Dept. of Social Protection. CCÉ Camross

CCÉ Camross are holding their annual summer seisún in Bergin’s Inn Camross, every Friday evening throughout July and August. Seisún provides a unique entertainment experience for holiday makers at venues like Begins all around Ireland during the months of July and August. A stage show of Irish music, song and dance, it features the authentic traditional entertainment as enjoyed by generations of Irish people. Everyone is welcome to join in the experience.
