Business CLOSURE After nearly fifty two years involved in the grocery Business the Ryan Family closed their Londis Store for the last time on Saturday March 31.

In 1960 Jimmy Ryan came from Castledermot to Durrow to run the grocery shop ‘The Stores’ for the late Mrs. Rita Holland. In 1979 Jimmy and his wife Mary took over the business and handed it over to their son Gearoid and his wife Teresa in 2001. With the advent of the By Pass and the below cost selling of the Supermarkets it was impossible to run the shop as a going concern. So on March 31 the Londis Store closed for the last time.

The Ryan family wish to thank their many loyal customers for their custom down through the years and especially when news of the pending closure was announced. The enormous generosity of the customers meant that during the last few weeks their many customer friends bought so much extra goods so as to aid the Ryan Family in their efforts to sell out their stock a testament to the respect and loyalty people had for the family.

On Saturday their was a celebration party in the shop from 4 pm with live Music dancing food and refreshments celebrating the wonderful service the Ryan family gave to the people of Durrow and Surrounding parishes down through the years and to wish Gearoid Teresa Adam Mark Tim and Emily and of course Jimmy and Mary a long Healthy and happy future in the years to come.
