On Culture Night September 19 there will by an open studio exhibition at Fruitlawn, Abbeyleix 3-7pm by artist Carol Booth at Fruitlawn, Abbeyleix. September meeting was held on Sept 2, Mary Hearns, acting President opened the meeting with prayers and My Land. 15 members attended and were given a warm welcome after summer recess. Knitting club in the library from Wednesday October 1 10.30 – 12.30, all are welcome. Palataes takes place Wed Oct 1 in Social Service Hall @ 2 – 3pm. ICA choir at ploughing championship wed at gig rig @ 11 o clock and in ICA marquee @ 12 o clock. Christmas baking demo by Catherine Layden of TV 3 fame is I aid of Cuisle Cancer Support Centre Portlaoise, it will be held in Telefords electric on Saturday October 25 at 8pm. A big thank you was expressed to all members past and present, who made the launching of the Centenary Seat which was a great success. This year Laois Hospice coffee morning takes place on Thursday, September 18, Ireland’s Biggest Coffee Morning sponsored by Bewley’s. Would you have an hour to spare on the 18th to host a coffee morning or evening or arrange a coffee morning in your workplace. Invite in a few friends and put on the kettle and share a cup of coffee. Laois Hospice are looking for people to host coffee mornings or evenings on 18th September.
