PORT’S BOXING CHAMP
While all eyes were on Katie Taylor, Portarlington’s own boxing queen - Anne McMahon from Shandra Portarlington was quietly boxing away in Mick Dowling’s Evolve Studio in Kimmage. After two months of boxercise training under the guidance of Mick he recognised Anne’s natural ability and prevailed on her to partake in a massive “White Collar Boxing” experience in aid of Down Syndrome Dublin. The D4 hotel (formerly Jurys) was the stage for this Las Vegas extravaganza. The event was compared by RTE’s own Jimmy McGee and raised almost €25,000 for the charity. Anne’s opponent was Orla Doyle from Dublin, but Anne was champ on the night. Watch out folks - you’ll be hearing a lot more from the champ from Shandra. Anne is daughter of Noel and Noreen McMahon from Shandra Portarlington. Well done Ann from all in Port, we hope to hear more from you in the future.
