Laois Open Door Theatre is bringing an original theatre composition titled ‘Keane and Scream’ to Rathdowney Community Centre on Saturday, November 3 at 8pm. The production is based on the works of John B Keane and is a seasonal addition for Halloween. Tickets are €5 per person and €15 for families and will be available on the door. The Parent & Toddler group meet every Friday morning in the Marion Centre (beside the RC Church) from 10-12.All parents and minders with children from new born to pre-school are welcome. No joining fee - €3 per morning.


Bingo, run by the Community Centre Group, is held every Tuesday night at 8.30 in the Rathdowney Community Centre. Your support would be greatly appreciated.


The knitting club meets every Monday from 2pm to 4.30pm in the communal centre on Cuan Bhride. They do wonderful work and are like one big family. The club are always anxious to attract new members, so come along any Monday.


There is tennis coaching every Saturday on the MUGA in the Playground (or in the community centre on wet days) ages 5, 6 & 7 at 2-3pm, ages 8,9 & 10 at 3-4pm and ages 11+ at 4-5pm cost €2 per week. Fashion Show

St Brigid’s Camogie Club are holding a fashion show in conjunction with Fortunes, in the Community Centre, Rathdowney Friday, November 16. Tickets are available from any committee member of at Fortune’s.


The 2012 Rathdowney Review magazine is currently being compiled and anyone wishing to contribute anything of interest is invited to do so. Items might include wedding photos, obituaries, first communion, sporting achievements, family profiles, historical items, debs, etc. Please send items or call to Betty O’Brien, Maureen Guilfoyle or Niall O’Doherty as soon as possible.


A new walking / jogging club has started up every Monday from 7-8pm. Meeting in the square at 7pm, there are several groups for walkers, walker/joggers and joggers of all levels of fitness. This year St Fergal’s College celebrates 75 years of educating four generations of students from Rathdowney and the surrounding area. At the end of November past pupils and staff will meet to mark the great occasion and honour those who contributed so much to the community over the past 75years. The organising committee are looking for any memorabilia which people might have to display on the night. Photos will be scanned and returned immediately, or can be emailed to admin@stfergalscollege.com. All items contributed will be very much appreciated.
