Portlaoise College launched a ‘Guide to Senior Cycle’ handbook recently, providing information on individual Leaving Certificate subjects as well as highlighting potential careers associated with these subjects.

Also included is an introduction to Transition Year and entry requirements for third level.

The handbook was put together by the staff of Portlaoise College in conjunction with Mochua Print, and each Third Year and Transition Year student will receive a copy to help them make their Leaving Certificate subject choices for the next academic year.

Speaking at the launch, Principal of Portlaoise College Noel Daly said that picking subjects for the Leaving Cert is not easy.

“There are so many options, and we feel our students will make better decisions having been provided with as much information as possible,” he said.

Although the handbook is tailored for the students of Portlaoise College, parents of students in other schools may also find it useful.

If you would like a copy then please contact the office of Portlaoise College on 057 8621480 or email the school guidance counsellor Declan Qualter at dqualter@portlaoisecollege.ie.
