Clean up

Help clean up Rathdowney: a group meets every Wednesday night at 7.00 in the square, if you can spare an hour please come along and help out. If possible bring a shovel or brush or hoe.


DONAGHMORE WORKHOUSE & AGRICULTURE MUSEUM Summer Opening Hours, the Museum will be open all weekends and bank holidays throughout the months of June, July, August and September between the hours of 2pm to 5pm. A great Bingo is held every Tuesday Night at 8.30 in the Rathdowney Community Centre. Your support would be greatly appreciated. Bingo is run by the Community Centre Group.


RATHDOWNEY GAA LOTO There was no winner in this week’s Jackpot which was €3,850. The 10 winners of €15 were Kathleen Moore, Martin 0’ Brien, Mary Sinnott, Eilish Campion, Theresa Whelan, Ashling Browne, John Tynan, Joe Bergin, Frank Smeaton, Mick Tobin. Next week’s Jackpot will be €4,000. Tickets can be purchased from all shops or from any local promoter.

Library workshop

LIBRARY on Thursday July 24 at 7pm author Alan Nolan will hold a workshop for children age 9 -12, it will consist of a short talk by the author on how he got into books, comics and illustration. This will be followed by a drawing demo that the children will join in on. Please contact Catherine on 087 2061998 or call into Rathdowney Library during opening times.

Soccer meeting

CLOVER UTD SOCCER CLUB players meeting on Thursday July 24, at 9pm sharp in the clubhouse, if players want the club to enter an A team and B team players must attend. Astroturf tournament the draw will take place on Monday July 28, all entries must be in by Sunday July 27. Names and team names must be texted to Pat on 087 2590504 or Jack on 087 1317581.


The Aware Support Group for people experiencing depression, anxiety, stress and other mood related conditions meets every Tuesday at 7.30pm in St. Peter and Pauls Parish Centre, Portlaoise. CHARITY CYCLE Training still taking place every Tuesday & Thursday at 7pm from the square, please continue to pay for the trip in Ian Maher’s, The Card Stand or to any committee member.


Meets every Tuesday night until end of summer months OCC are reintroducing their A, B and Leisure group cycles. Cycles will commence at 7pm sharp. Each group will have its own team leader and each leader will pick a course that will suite their group. We would like to welcome any new Leisure cyclist to joins on our cycles, the leisure cycle is guaranteed to be at a pace that will suite everybody in the group [Slow]. All are welcome to join us, Juveniles must be accompanied by a Parent or guardian. Important, helmets must be worn at all times. No helmet no cycle.
