Port scoops award

Barrow Awards 2012

Barrow Awards 2012

A big well done to Portarlington Dirty Old Towns committee who scooped two awards on Tuesday September 18 at the Seven Oaks Hotel in Carlow, where the Barrow Awards 2012 was held. The judging started last June with visits from the four judges. Work continued on the River Walk/Arlington House until September, when the final surface was put on the pathway, and a new pergola was built on the walk. The maintenance of the river walk is mainly taken care of by the men from the CE scheme. From time to time volunteers will do some clean up on the walk. The committee would like to thank everyone who has helped out in any way with this project, and after seeing other towns/villages on the slideshow at the awards, it has given great enthusiasm to the committee to continue to push for the River Walk to be extended.
