St Clare’s Hospitality have now located a premises for our new food kitchen where we will serve hot meals to families in need five days per week. Some work is needed on the premises to bring it up to health and safety standards. They are looking for volunteers who may be able to help with the renovations. If you are a plasterer, carpenter, electrician or plumber and can give some of your time to volunteer on this project please come to a meeting in the Graiguecullen Parish Centre on Wednesday 01 October at 8pm.
As part of the Laois Connects Mental Health awareness week, a 6.5km Forest Walk will take place at Rossmore on Sunday October 12 at 12.30pm. The Forest Walk will start and finish at Oisín Park. Details from Pat Whelan 059 9147868.
St Abbans Draw
Tickets for the St Abban’s annual three x €10 draw are now available from committee members. First draw in the Glenside on Saturday October 11.
Carlow County Development Partnership is organising, in conjunction with Carlow Older Persons Network and Age Friendly Carlow, a free event to celebrate Positive Ageing Week in Carlow, the “Carlow Knitting Party” on Wednesday 1st October from 2pm to 5pm in the Seven Oaks Hotel. This is a free event, in which they welcome everybody and amongst other activities, it will have knitting workshops, tea and sandwiches and a raffle. Proceeds from the raffle will go to Age Action.
Recent lotto result were 04, 06, 22 and 24 and there was no winner. The €25 lucky dip winners were Aisling Brett, David Walker, David Reddy and Gary Canavan. The seller’s prize went to Mickey Dempsey. The Jackpot now stands at €7,500.
It’s the start of the new season and training for ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams has commenced on Monday nights at 7.30pm and new players are very welcome. Whist night that runs on Wednesdays will take a summer break until early September and they would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who supported the whist.

The children from Graiguecullen will be enrolled in the Parish Confirmation Programme at the 6.30pm Mass in St Clare’s on Saturday 04 October and the children from Killeshin NS will be enrolled at the 10.15am Mass on Sunday 12 October in Holy Cross Church.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. A tree of hope will stand proudly in the Lazy river cafe Graiguecullen supporting the fighters, admiring the survivors, honouring the taken and never ever giving up hope. All are invited to drop in and hang a ribbon on the tree. Ribbons are €2 and all donations to cancer awareness.
ST FIACC’S HOUSE
St. Fiacc’s House Library open for lending Monday to Friday from 10am to 12 noon from Monday last. This is a free service and all people from the Parish are welcome to come and borrow a book and donate your used books if you wish.
Boxes of envelopes are now available at the doors of our churches and we ask each family to take a box and use the envelopes to make your contributions to the Parish Development Fund and other special collections. The Parish Financial Statement for 2013 is also available at the church doors.
Killeshin FC Whist Night has recommenced on Wednesday night at 8.30pm in the Old Den beside Killeshin Hall. Entry is only €5 per person and all are welcome. Beginners at 8pm on Wednesday 10 September also. Refreshments served
SCHOOL OPEN NIGHT
Carlow Vocational School open night takes place on Thursday 06 November from 7pm to 9pm. It is an invitation for prospective students, Parents/Guardians, to discover the excellent learning experiences on offer at Carlow Vocational School.
This Friday, 03 October, is the First Friday of the month and there will be the usual penitential service during the 10am Mass in St Clare’s church.
The Graiguecullen women’s group meets on Wednesdays in the Lazy River Cafe at 7.30pm. New members always welcome
St Clare’s Children’s Choir, on Mondays from 4.30pm to 5.30pm in the Parish Centre. The choir is open to all primary school children and first year secondary school students. New members more than welcome.
Parish Youth Choir has resumed on Saturdays from 12.45 to 2pm in the Parish Centre. The choir is open to all secondary school students and young adults. Musicians also very welcome.
THURSDAY MORNING CLUB
Thursday Morning Club has resumed after the 10am Mass in St Clare’s. People are invited to come to the Parish Centre for tea or coffee and some friendly chat.

BLESSING OF PETS
Blessing of Pets will coincide with the Feast of St Francis, Patron Saint of animals, birds and all pets, on Saturday, October 4 at 5.30pm at the Parish Centre. All are invited to this special blessing.
