NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH MEETING
A meeting of Stradbally Neighbourhood Watch will be held in St Mary’s Hall on Thursday, March commencing at 7.30pm.
THE LATE ANNIE BRANDON
The death occurred on Februray 9 at Droimnin Nursing Home, Stradbally of Annie Brandon, nee Browne, Saint Martins, Swan Road, Durrow, Co. Laois and formerly of Blackford, Stradbally. Her remains were reposing at her residence on Wednesday until removal to the Holy Trinity Church, Durrow and following requiem mass on Thursday burial took place in Oakvale cemetery, Stradbally.
JUVENILE ANGLING CLUB
The AGM of the Stradbally Juvenile Angling Club will be held Monday, February 23 commencing at 7pm. All members welcome. Also on March 9 there will be a meeting to sort out outings for 2015 and insurance.
STRADBALLY DISTRICT ANGLERS
The AGM of the Stradbally & District Anglers will be held on Monday, March 2 in St Mary’s Hall commencing at 8pm.
COMMUNITY GAMES 2015
Thanks to school children who have started art this week. Most talent competitions are now u-14 and u-16. Anyone interested in recitation, drama, music or singing, please call 086-7988855. Handwriting is now u-10 and u-12 with the area final taking place in St Colman’s Hall at 3.15pm on Friday, February 27. There will be weekly updates for all upcoming events including soccer, football, rugby, drafts/chess, table quiz, etc on facebook and local papers.
MSL SQUAD
Two of seven players have been selected on the MSL squad for this year’s Kennedy Cup which takes place in Limerick in June. Chris Moran, Stradbally and Michael Conlon, Timahoe represent (T&S Utd). Best of luck.
REDEFINING MARRIAGE
Well known and highly regarded correspondent David Quinn will lecture in Portlaoise Parish Centre on Tuesday, February 17 at 7.30pm.
MENS SHED
The Men’s Shed, The Swan and surrounding areas are up and running. Meeting are held every Thursday night at 8.30pm at The Swan Community Hall. New members are always welcome, irrespective of age. For further details contact George 086 3913180.
TALK ON HEN RESCUE
Karen Rogers from the Laois Hen Rescue group who will give a talk on re-homing caged hens at a meeting in the Mountmellick Development Association on Monday, March 7 at 7.30pm. PARISH MISSION STRADBALLY
The Parish Mission in the Church of the Sacred Heart will be held from Saturday, March 21 to Friday, March 27 directed by the Vincentian Fathers. Meeting in the Parochial House on Wednesday, February 18 at 8pm.

Deepest sympathy is extended to Fr Patrick Breen, Timahoe and Stradbally on the death of his brother Eddie Breen, Ballykearn, Abbeyleix who passed away on Friday, January 30.

The Laois Hunt Hunter Trials will be held in Stradbally Hall on commencing at 10am. On Saturday, April 4.

€130 tickets now on sale for the Laois GAA Club Membership Draw and your support for Stradbally GAA Club would be greatly appreciated. These tickets remain the single most important fundraiser for the club and members are urged to support this in every way possible.
