The Parish lotto with a jackpot of €1,300 was not won on Monday night. The small winner was €30 Ian Smith, €25 Violetta Kavanagh and €20 D and O Conroy. The Lotto will be held on September 21, 2015 in Peadar’s Bar, Durrow with a possible jackpot of €1, 600. All tickets must be handed in before 9.30 pm on the night of the draw to be included in that jackpot.
Durrow /Cullohill Parish Anglers held a trout fishing competition for the Pat Gaughan Memorial Cup. First was Jonathan Stapleton, 2nd Pat Dunphy, and 3rd Seanie Delehunty. Under 14 Daniel O’Regan, 2nd Mark O Loughlin. Next Competition on September 27 for the Paddy Holohan Memorial Cup for trout fishing.
Following a very successful visit to Durrow by Irish Blood Transfusion Service the following received Awards;

JACK’S GOLF SOCIETY
Congratulations to Leo Dunne, Captain of Jack’s Golf Society on his lovely Captain’s Day in Powerscourt Golf Club, Co Wicklow, on 20th August. A great day was had by all. The prize winners on the day were: 1st Peter Dunne, 2nd Liam Delahunty, 3rd Kieran McEvoy, 4th Dick Brennan, 5th Seamus Duggan. Front nine: Cathal Phelan, Back nine: Leo Dunne, Middle six: Pat Alley. Nearest to the pin: Declan Phelan. Visitor’s prize: Donal O Gorman. The final outing for 2015 will be to Esker Hills Golf Club, home of Shane Lowry, on 31st October.

High nelly cycle
On Saturday and Sunday August 29 and 30 nearly thirty people took part in the High Nelly Heritage Cycle from Derrinlough to Durrow (in the”Wheelrims” of William Bulfin (1864-1910). There was a large crowd to welcome them to Durrow as well as two direct decedents of the Great William Bulfin, Jack and Mary.
This journey retraces one of William Bulfin, “Rambles in Eirinn” journeys and when he came to Durrow he describes it “A Gem in the Basin of the Nore”. Well done to everyone who took on the two day challenge and to Hughie Sheppard and Team for organising this event.
