The parish lotto with a jackpot of €9,950 was not won on September 2. Winners of the small draw were €30 Sean Cahill, €25 Tom Kenna and €20 John Bourke. The lotto of Monday night September 9 will be held in Bob’s Bar with a possible jackpot of €10,100. All tickets must be handed in before 9.30pm on the night of the draw to be included in that jackpot
There is a new rota of readers for mass on Saturday night and Sunday morning in the Church of the Most Holt Trinity, Durrow being drawn up shortly starting on the first Saturday in October. If you are interested in being included in the list please contact Martin Lawlor, 087 2185839 or sign your name on the list left in back of the church.
All existing readers will be contacted by Martin in the next week. Until the rota is set up some of the readers already listed will be asked to fill in on a one night stand. All new readers will be given tuition on the skills of using the microphone etc.
The Irish Blood Transfusion Service Mobile Unit visited Durrow recently. There was a great turnout and over 131 donors attended this clinic with ten new donors and 13 lapsed donors. We wish to thank the people who made time to donate blood and we are certain that your donations will save lives. Many thanks also to the Castle Arms Hotel for the venue and to Martin and Mary Lawlor for promoting the clinic.
A new session of pilates classes will commence in the Castle Arms Hotel on Tuesday night September 10, from 8pm to 9pm. This is a ten week session and it costs €80. Places are limited and booking is essential. For more details contact Margaret on 086 8547710.
St Padre Pio
The feast of St Padre Pio is on Monday September 23, and there will be a mass and blessing with a relic at 8pm in St Tighernachs Church, Cullohill. Everyone welcome, for more information please contact Fr Tom at 087 7619235.

Durrow Community Hall has Taekwondo and Hapkido, for fitness, toning up muscles, building confidence, feeling strong and self defence. Every Monday and Wednesday night from 7.45pm to 8.45pm in the hall. For more information contact 086 8359333.
There is in existence a superb cleaning rota for the Most Holy Trinity Church, Durrow but some of the groups have lost some of their team and we appeal for more people to get involved with this work. You will only be asked to give one hour per week for a month and your turn only comes up every five months. If you can assist please contact Angela Drennan or Betty Walsh for more details.
On Sunday, September 1 the Woodenbridge Paddlers held a hugely successful sponsored charity paddle ‘The Boston - New York Marathon’ in aid of The Cuisle Cancer Support Centre for Laois.
Spink Comhaltas are having their registration night on the Friday September 13 for the coming year. New members are always welcome. Registration starts at 7pm in the evening and we will be there until 8.30pm in Knock Hall, Spink village. We will then be starting back to tuition on Friday 20 following the school cycle. Classes for under 18 members, in Knock Hall, Spink on Fridays, from 7pm until 9pm (in three classes, September to May).
