Park/Rath GAA Ploughing plans

The club will be supervising car parking over the three days of the upcoming National Ploughing Championships. They have been assigned the Bus Park duty in the Club Grounds and the Church car park, with responsibility for nearby properties. This will require a large amount of manpower, up to 40 people on each day, and as a result each member is askedto donate a day, to help the event run smoothly. Benefit Night

A Benefit Night in aid of Oncology Dept, St John’s Ward, Crumlin Children’s Hospital, will take place on Friday September 20, in the Community Hall, Timahoe, at 8.30PM. Music will be provided by Castlecomer Male Voice Choir, The Contenders, The Ramblers, and The Timahoe Folk Group. Plough On & Run

The Plough On and Run 10k will take place at 11am, 22 September around the site of the National Ploughing Championships. All proceeds are in aid of VITA, a charity improving living conditions of the poor and marginalised in Ethiopia, Eritrea and Kenya.

The route will mainly cover flat ground and is suitable for Couch to 5k, personal best and fun runners. Entry is online and costs €15. Juveniles €10. The emphasis is on fun while kicking off the ploughing, and helping a great cause. Register at runireland.com

Volunteers needed

Volunteers are needed to sell Catalogues at the Ploughing Championships (Sept 24 – 26), to raise funds for Dysart Enos Church Conservation Project (and CBS Portlaoise and Portlaoise Parish Youth Group.) late jim flanagan

Sympathy is extended to the family of Jim Flanagan, Dunamaise House, Portlaoise who passed away peacefully, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Husband of the late Pauline and dearly loved dad to Joe, Regina, Ned, Caroline, Lorraine and Seamus, he is deeply regretted by his loving family, bothers Joe and Tom, sisters Minnie, Rita and Cathy, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, relatives and friends.

Late John Maher

Sympathy is extended to the family of John Maher, 6 Hillview, Stradbally Road, Timahoe, and formerly from Grange, Stradbally. He is sadly missed by his partner Deirdre, brothers, sisters, aunt, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends.
